No. Legacy status is meaningful to many of our families, but it is not a requirement and it is not a guarantee. Every candidate is evaluated against the Jordan Standard.

It is the seven-part standard Founder Isaac M. Jordan set for membership: a man of good character, a student of fair ability, with ambitious purposes, a congenial disposition, possessed of good morals, having a high sense of honor, and a deep sense of personal responsibility. It has governed who we invite since 1855.

Yes. We recruit throughout the year, and men join as sophomores and juniors. Contact us and we will talk through it.

Costs vary by term and by whether a member lives in the house. Dues cover chapter operations, international fraternity fees, insurance, and social and philanthropic programming. Contact us for a current schedule of dues and housing costs.

Yes. The Beta Kappa of Sigma Chi White Cross Foundation, our 501(c)(3), awards academic scholarships to active undergraduate members. Awards have historically recognized members maintaining a 3.5 grade point average or above.

Study hours, test files, a scholarship chairman, tutoring connections through the university, and a foundation that puts money behind good grades. The educational areas of our planned new chapter house are being funded specifically to strengthen this.

No. Live-in requirements vary by year and by chapter capacity. Many members live in the house for one or two years and elsewhere for the rest of their time at OU.

Hazing is against the laws of Oklahoma, the Student Code of the University of Oklahoma, the rules of Sigma Chi International Fraternity, and the rules of our Chapter. Any physical abuse will not be tolerated.

Brothers are expected to obey all municipal, state, and federal laws, and the use of alcohol or any controlled substance is no different. Sigma Chi does not condone drinking under the legal age, nor use of any controlled drug without proper medical authorization. Use of illegal substances is strictly prohibited.

Yes. All initiated members of the Beta Kappa Chapter are considered alumni once they are no longer an active undergraduate student, regardless of whether a degree was completed.

The White Cross Foundation is a 501(c)(3) private foundation (EIN 30-0407306) that funds scholarships and the educational areas of the chapter house. The Housing Corporation is the alumni board that owns and operates the house and is leading the capital campaign to build a new one. They are separate legal entities with separate accounts.

Gifts to the White Cross Foundation are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law, as it is a 501(c)(3) organization. Please consult your tax advisor about your particular situation.
